Mounting & Laminating
One of the first aluminum composite sheets for display and signs, Dibond panels have polyethylene cores between two aluminum surface layers. With a protective film on both sides, Dibond is extremely stable, durable and suitable for interior and exterior applications with its resistance to weathering, temperature variations, and corrosion. Ideal for custom mounting of interior design, exhibition displays, and exterior signage elements, Dibond lends itself easily to 3D processing characteristics. Dibond has an absolutely flat, stiff surface with consistent color quality and a lower overall weight than aluminum metal prints, which makes it suitable for large formats.
Dibond is a rugged material, virtually maintenance-free, and extremely long-lasting.
Lightweight and durable, Sintra is an archival mounting material made of PVC plastic that’s ideal for long-lasting indoor and outdoor print applications. Printing directly on Sintra produces pieces with outstanding color and quality suitable for sign display construction and photo mounting. Sintra prints are resistant to UV damage, dents, scratches, moisture, and chemicals, which makes them an excellent choice for displays, exhibit booths, cutouts, and photo mounting. Sintra is available in 1/8″ or 1/4″ thicknesses, black or white.
Foamcore, also called foam board, is an economical way to mount images in full, vibrant color on a resilient, lightweight material for temporary use, such as trade shows. With a polystyrene board pressed between two paper liners, Foamcore is easy to size, has a built-in memory, and is lightweight yet sturdy. Foamcore is available in all white and all black. White has smooth, clay-coated, glossy liners. Black has a solid black core, wrapped in smooth, matte black paper. Choose from widths of ¼” and ½”.
Stronger than Foamcore but with a similar weight, Gatorboard is an ideal choice for photo mounting, exhibits, and indoor displays that require rigidity, durability, and warp resistance. The rigid polystyrene foam core of Gatorboard rests laminated between resin-infused wood fiber veneers, which gives it a harder surface than Foamcore and makes it moisture resistant. As the strongest type of foam board available, Gatorboard is an ideal lightweight mounting material. Gatorboard is available in 1/4″ and 1/2″ thickness giving it a lightweight, museum quality.
When framing isn’t possible or desirable, lamination is an effective, affordable and attractive way of protecting prints. With lamination, prints become more durable, last longer, and resist fading and damage. Lamination protects against sun damage, dirt, fingerprints, moisture, and other contaminants. Added benefits of lamination include the ability to turn matte prints into glossy prints and that they look stunning when professionally mounted and on display.
